‘Are you pregnant yet?’ ‘Are you showing yet?’ Surely at least one famous female has to restrain the urge to punch a reporter in the throat.
I am So Very Tired of morning TV, magazines and online sites zooming in on Princess Kate’s growing baby bump. It wasn’t enough that she finally got pregnant. Now, every increase in the girth of her belly is Breaking News, and not just on E! or Us magazine.
Belly cams also zoomed in on first-time Moms Fergie, Kristen Bell and Busy Phillips, among others, but none of them have the same level of A-List status as the Big Three. Poor paparazzi. Where will the cameras turn next? Hope Jennifer Aniston’s bodyguards are ready for the onslaught.
The minute Jennifer Aniston reverses direction from the wedding altar to walk back up the aisle, guess what happens after that? Is she pregnant? Is that a bump? TELL US WHAT’S GOING ON!!!
Can’t help but wonder: How many of us in The Real World really care?
First-time pregnancies are special, well-deserving of attention and good wishes. Is that an endorsement of more stares at the woman’s belly than her face? And, in-your-face prying before pregnancy is even on a woman’s radar is not OK. Everyday women go though the same intrusive stress, but on a quieter plane, from wanna-be Grandmas and godmothers and aunts. In the end, it’s all the same: Just.Not.Right.
