Everyone’s life develops its own soundtrack, and if you’re lucky, a good part of it will make you so happy you just have to dance. 2012 has taken away 2 of the greatest DJs who played the music for millions: first, Soul Train host Don Cornelius, and now, the legendary Dick Clark.
Rock and roll begat all that followed, and Dick was always there. To add perspective, ladies, when American Bandstand started, girls appeared in modest plaid skirts and bobby sox. If you’ve ever ushered in a new year watching Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve, you know there’s not much modest about how the the women dancing are dressed! From Beach Boys to disco, Motown to Snoop Dogg, and Dick Clark “got it”. Even as he publicly promised never to grow up, he led a production company responsible for creating the American Music Awards, those annoying but watchable blooper shows, and much, much more.
