Parents No Happier Than Childless Couples
Childless Couples Happier With Their Marriage, Study Says
Childless Couples Are ‘Happier’
So much energy (again) to make a conclusion about who’s got it better. Can’t we give it a rest?
A British study produced by Open University and titled Enduring Love? determined that mothers are the happiest people of all. OK, but that’s not a headline that grabs eyeballs, I guess. The study also found that gay couples are happier than their heterosexual counterparts, but that headline wasn’t as popular as the old re-treaded tire, Mom v. NotMom.
It seems that every six months or so, some group somewhere offers a version of the same question. This time, according to surveys of almost 5,000 couples, while kid-free couples were happier than parents, married people were happier than unmarried couples, whether or not they had children.
So…In day-to-day life, what does anyone do with this info? Unless you’re trying to talk someone into getting married, or postponing kids, what’s it for? Does it make childless you feel better? Won’t it make single people feel bad? Are the results only true in Britain?
Happiness is different things to different people. Rock your life your way.
