I’ve been watching tweets go by from several of my favorite Twitterfriends with the hashtag #TypeACon. I knew the tag referred to a conference, but I didn’t know which one. So….I did what any 2nd millennium woman would do: I Googled it.
When the screen opened to reveal the homepage for the Type-A Parent Conference, the unbidden response was familiar: Aw Geez.
Now in its 3rd year, Type-A Parent Con is “designed to help social media/blogging parents and the companies who want to connect with them take it to the next level.” I gots no problem with that. I’ll be at BlogHer with 2,900 other women bloggers myself. Of course, a goodly number of those ladies fall under the broad umbrella of “mommy bloggers”, too.
I’m sure I could attend an event like Type A Parent if I wanted to — I mean, I don’t think they’d kick me to the curb, but I’d still feel like the proverbial ugly stepchild. I suppose it’s the sponsors’ attention I want. NotMoms are out here, and in larger numbers than you’d think. Some of us have children in our lives, some don’t, but we all have discretionary income that isn’t tucked away in a college fund.
Do I have your attention now, advertisers?
